Joe Byrne awakes to find himself alone, in the pitch dark, in the middle of what turns out to be an utterly remote plateau in the middle of the jungle. He has some kit, a weapon, plus 24 hours of rations. And a laptop. Where exactly is he? Why is he there? Opening the laptop reveals a message that Byrne's family has been taken hostage, and he must complete a mission to win their release. As a former member of the elite special forces operation known as The Unit, Byrne is better equipped than most to deal with his predicament.
Not least when it emerges that there are others on the plateau too - also highly trained killers, with similar instructions from their mysterious puppet master that only one of them can remain alive .
