Razim is ambitious, impatient, and desperate to return to the city, where success, status, and important people await him. Elfie is his opposite: talkative, imaginative, warm-hearted, and far more interested in wonder than achievement. When the two friends become lost on a quiet country road, they encounter a strange figure known only as the Man of Stories. He offers them the promise of fortune, but the gift comes with a peculiar task: they must go into the city and collect the stories of people who are searching for something.
