Vanth watched Asmodeus get struck down in battle. The overconfident demon general fell to an angel, but managed to escape. Vanth knows that he'll be licking his wounds and prime for a late visit­-and Vanth needs to make it very clear exactly how unacceptable this is. Asmodeus is difficult to harm. Vanth should know, the two of them have been at each other's throats for centuries. It usually isn't easy for anyone besides Vanth to even get close.
And he is NOT supposed to be hurt by others.
