Northern Blues: A Short Story
When an injured NYU ballerina is sidelined for the summer, she returns to her small hometown where she meets an aspiring chef who encourages her to explore love and life outside of dance. When an accident forces Margot out of the NYU ballet studio, she finds herself settling back into her parents' house in northern Minnesota for the summer. Convinced her life is over, Margot stews at home until a seasonal worker from the local canoe-camping lodge befriends her.
Student chef Sebastian secures a summer job washing dishes in a canoe-camping lodge. A cranky ballerina captures his heart and he takes on the challenge of using his baking skills to gain her attention. Despite Margot's limitations, Sebastian encourages her to get out of her house and her comfort zone through walks downtown, card games, and observation of her mother's beloved garden, which is home to a cluster of butterflies.
