Poetry. Non-rhyming. Rhythm more decisive than meter. For the most part, straightforward, understandable writing. No "puzzle" poems that need to be deciphered in order to explore meaning. Themes? Those of modern lyric poetry. Occasionally gay subject matter; in one or two instances, topical. Not didactic. Not humorous except perhaps now and then. Character driven, many of the poems. "Serious poetry for serious minds." Sure.
