Arriving in Berlin at last, Kurt is obliged to keep a low profile-at least as much as he can manage-while he waits for his next appointment. Lieutenant Brohm has arranged for him to stay in a suite at the Hattendorf hotel, one of many safe havens for Special Club members throughout the Reich. It is here that Kurt meets a fresh-faced bellhop named Hugo, who he quickly takes a liking to. Every character depicted in this piece is 18 years of age or older.
