In this dystopian novella set on the distant planet of Harmony in the Outer World, schoolteacher Keron Loftbrook and librarian caretaker Sam Goss, joined by Keron's two lifelong friends, bar owner Theo Croke and former warrior Paulina Mulcahy, find themselves involved in a perilous race against time to prevent war between the Great Houses of Harmony and the bellicose Disrupters who escaped over the Wall of Protection.
Facing danger at every turn, their relationships are tested when the tale of the mysterious Storyteller, who has reputedly used magical blue dust to change history in a positive manner, is revealed to them.
