Over Easter 1913 Edward Thomas, successful poetry critic and nature writer, cycled from London to the West Country in search of spring.   Every town he passed through reminded him of earlier writers on the British countryside who had influenced him.   This is the story of Thomas's ride and the development of country writing in English.
