Jesusgläubige Juden werden oft als Provokation empfunden. Dieser Band, Ergebnis einer Tübinger Konferenz vom Januar 2025, versammelt neben Texten messianisch-jüdischer Theologen erstmals Beiträge jüdischer Autorinnen und Autoren, die - in Israel und den USA - orthodoxen oder liberalen Gemeinden angehören. Gemeinsam mit christlichen Theologinnen und Theologen unterschiedlicher Konfessionen aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz beleuchten sie Fragen, die »messianische Juden« mit ihrer Existenz und Theologie stellen - in neutestamentlicher, kirchengeschichtlicher, systematisch-theologischer und judaistischer Sicht.
Im Zentrum steht das von dem amerikanischen Theologen Mark Kinzer vorgeschlagene Konzept eines »Postmissionarischen Messianischen Judentums« , das auf seine Stimmigkeit und mögliche Folgerungen für den jüdisch-christlichen Dialog untersucht wird. Mit Beiträgen von Hanna Rucks, Matthias Morgenstern, Thomas Schumacher, Adiel Schremer, Uta Heil, Yaakov Ariel, Richard Harvey, Mark Kinzer, Wolfgang Kraus und Amy Jill Levine. [Messianic Judaism] Jews who believe in Jesus are often perceived as a provocation.
This volume, the result of a conference held in Tübingen in January 2025, brings together texts by Messianic Jewish theologians and, for the first time, contributions by Jewish authors who - in Israel and the USA - are part of Orthodox or liberal communities. Together with Christian theologians of different denominations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, they shed light on questions that »Messianic Jews« pose with their existence and theology - from a New Testament, church-historical, systematic-theological perspective and from the perspective of Jewish studies.
The focus is on the concept of a »Post-Missionary Messianic Judaism« proposed by the American theologian Mark Kinzer, which is examined for its coherence and possible consequences for the Jewish-Christian dialog.
