Animal Eyes is a comparative account of all the types of eye in the animal kingdom, which includes their optical systems, form and function, ecology and evolution. In comparing eyes, it asks what are the characteristics that enable them to resolve well and to operate under a range of light conditions? The book also discusses the movements of eyes: how they sample the environment in time as well as space.
