The Hollow MirrorWhen archaeologist Richard Lakaz returns to his native Mauritius to restore a crumbling colonial chapel, he discovers a perfectly black sphere buried in a flooded basement-an artifact that does not reflect light but devours it. Touching the sphere plunges Richard into a nightmare world of crowned, antlered beings called the Shepherds, who have been harvesting human memories, hopes, and despair for centuries, and Richard must confront the ghosts of his past-his sister's drowning, his mother's death, his father's dementia-to break the cycle before the Shepherds consume everything he loves, including the woman who still holds his heart.
