Asia's traditional medical systems are well-studied and widely recognised. Why, then, does Africa's equivalent remain such a mystery?Africa's heritage comprises both tangible and intangible elements which are largely undocumented. This book is an attempt at discovering the foundations of African traditional medicine (ATM). These foundations are grouped into five key elements: namely, history, ubuntu, African consciousness, usiko-mpilo, and oracles.
