Learn to Read Chinese Book 4: Six Ghost Stories in Easy Chinese
This book contains six wonderful Chinese tales of the supernatural, based on short stories by Pu Songling and published in 1766 as Liaozhai Zhiyi (????, Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio). The stories have been retold in easy Chinese by Yunjie Xiong, using simplified grammar and a limited Chinese vocabulary based on the HSK4 word list. Each page of Chinese faces a page of pinyin (phonetic spelling), so if you don't recognize a word, you can check the pinyin to see how it's pronounced.
You can then look up the word's meaning in the glossary in the back of the book. A full English translation is also included. You can also listen to a complete audiobook of these stories on YouTube, on the Imagin8 Press channel. Yunjie Xiong holds a Master's degree in Applied Science and has six years of experience as a freelance writer and translator. Her expertise includes writing and translating technical documents, reports, and novels.
Her favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy.
