A classic of pre-revolutionary France, this novel examines the inside of a monastery, and offered not a little criticism of false pieties from the clerical regime. Olympia republished this work in the earlier days of the Traveller's Companion, it is believed but not assured that Austryn Wainhouse was the translator.
