Throughout Rose's life, her memories would surface unexpectedly-triggered by a word, a situation, or even in her dreams. She would write them down as quickly as they surfaced, capturing them before they faded. These memories shaped how she saw the world, how she reacted to life's challenges, and how they lingered in her thoughts, often influencing her decisions. This memoir isn't about Rose's writing skills.
It's about her life. She had only just begun a casual writing course for the fun of it, never realising that each of her stories-memories scribbled down as they came to her-would reveal a much bigger picture. More about Rose's life can be found in 'Jack's Promises', an historical novel by Grahame Elliott, based on memories of her struggle to survive in the Australian outback during the Depression of the 30s and WWII. Rose passed away in November 2024.
