Rosenzweig's poems seem to be crystaliza-tions of dark, angular and dangerous im-pulses. Subliminal images, dislodged and juxta-posed, create his nocturnal etudes, gnostic miniatures The incantations here try to create momen-tary incandescences in which we see these obscure, secreted hieroglyphs decoded, messages perhaps found scratched on the walls of reason and lucidity and then etched with acid, transcribed, on the belly of Ve-nus.
