I had a knot in my gut for the first half hour after I arrived for dinner. Although Bob was lost in some business matter and paid not attention to my ogling his wife and daughter, both of the girls were chattering incessantly as if competing for my attention. "Shelby tells me that you have become quite close friends, " Barbara suddenly blurted out. My stomach fell to my ankles as I waited for the other shoe to drop I was certain that Barbara was about to lambast me for what happened over at my house earlier.
The huge smile on Shelby's face suggested that I was right all along that her flirtations would lead to ruin.
