Carly Rose doesn't trust men. And for good reason. First there was an irresponsible father, then an abusive stepfather. And creepy guys in high school who used her. At nineteen, she's determined not to imitate her mom and choose a bad partner. Problem is, the guys she's met so far seem as bad as her mom's choices.  Tyler Hayes doesn't expect much from life. Or women.  At twenty, he barely remembers his mom, a party animal who left when Tyler was very young.
Will Hayes raised his son as best he could, though he tended to bury his feelings and drink his troubles away. Sparks fly when Carly and Tyler meet. She thinks he's hot as the Texas summer sun. Too bad, he's probably like the jerks from her past .
