The Stakes couldn't be higher. In August 1939, as relations between Germany and Britain head rapidly towards war, the German equestrian team were hosted by the Royal British Legion as they travelled to Dublin via Goole.  A year later, as invasion fever grips the country, a body is found by the canal.
