Born without genitals and reviled by society as an abomination, the orphan Sol is taken in by a kind priestess. When his caregiver becomes mysteriously ill, he turns to forbidden magic to summon a healing deity. Much to his surprise (and chagrin), he summons Mammatus instead, a sleazy sun god who has more experience bedding wives than answering prayers. Bound by the sacred cosmic contract between summoner and summoned, Sol and Mammatus must learn to get along---all while dealing with the otherworldly threats that start to leak into the mortal realm through the rifts caused by Sol's botched summoning spell.  And as their friendship grows, so does Sol's suspicion that the sun god might not be all that he seems...
