Rosa Calenzo

My name is Rosa Calenzo and this is my story. I come from Cellole in the Campania region of central-southern Italy. It is located in the province of Caserta on the Tyrrhenian Sea between Sardinia and Sicily and is not far from the highbrow tourist attraction of Baia Domizia. In 1961 I responded to an invitation from a fellow villager who had already migrated to Montreal. I boarded the famous migrant ocean liner Saturnia, with all its elegant décor, and set sail for Halifax where I took the train to Montreal.
Filmmakers Ferdinando Dell'Omo and Lilia Topouzova made a documentary film Saturnia that was about the famous ship and its migrant passengers and I was in the film. Once in Montreal, it didn't take too long before I was married. But I missed my home Cellole so much so that I found solace in Italian Cuisine from my beloved Campania. So much so that during the production of film Saturnia, as guests in my house, I cooked Rustic Italian Cuisine for filmmakers Ferdinando Dell'Omo and Lilia Topouzova.
And with that, in my eBook I want to share my life long experience about my passion for cooking that kept my connection to the Old World.
