Just as the nation boils over an incident of police brutality caught on tape, Charity Buttigieg, a Sudanese adoptee, is found dead near Hassan's Cave in the outskirts of Birzebbuga. In his trademark single-breasted blazer and red tie, punctual as a Netflix subscription payment, Debono is called in to investigate this atrocious murder. Instead, he finds himself navigating in a minefield of institutional mistrust, pressure, and opposition.
Then, Spagu is killed, and the inspector is thrust into yet another mystery.
