The boy's death and the fear for his sister Dinah's whereabouts shatters the uneasy peace between the neighborhood's rival street gangs. Their race-fueled, escalating violence complicates the search for the missing child and the hunt for the person of interest thought to have kidnapped the twins, a woman identified in hush whispers as,  La Bruja, a priestess of the latest cult of an ancient goddess of death. Sidelined from the case by a friendly fire investigation, Detective Guerrera joins forces with Vatican Exorcist Monsignor Patrick Grimm, a priest with some prickly, mysterious baggage of his own.
The two men must stay out of the gangs' crosshairs in their race against time to find the child. The blood moon is rising and with it the chances that young Dinah Washington will be added to the rising body count.
