Or was she pushed? When Adele's uncle is accused of murder, Grai and Adele take it upon themselves to solve the mystery, and Grai's spirit is more than willing to interrogate the dead woman's ghost! Looking for a motive isn't hard in a wild territory where prohibition threatens the populace, sailors are crimped, opium is smuggled, ghosts abound, and no one knows their next door neighbor's secrets.

When a friend's livery stable burns to the ground, the residents of Port Summerhill are led by a former deputy (who has an agenda of his own) to believe the Salish were the arsonists.
To keep the townspeople from rioting, Grai and Adele must prove the Salish tribe innocent. The stakes intensify when a body is found in the forest on Grai's property and a young Salish woman flees the scene.
