Our mam

For lovers of the style of Terry Pratchett and Robert Rankin, this is a book for you. The little Welsh village of Don-Cwm-Bach sits in the foothills of the Black Mountains. The local supermarket is 3 cottages of a 300 year old terrace of 4. The fourth cottage belongs to Megan Evans who works at the supermarket. Megans cottage is built over an ancient site of standing stones. The stones sank into the ground hundreds of years before.
The stones and their power are still there, sleeping. A ray of ethereal light burst from the sun hitting the supermarket. It hit Megan where she worked at the deli counter and bounced across to hit Llewyd Griffiths who was queing outside. Both Megan and Llewyd were imbued with a powerful magic. Megan, as a mother, only wants to use her powers for nurturing and good. Llewyd now has the power he has always craved and will use it to his own ends to dominate the village, the country and the whole world if he can't be stopped.
The struggle between the two newly magical beings begins. As does the first book in the chronicles of Don-Cwm-bach. The characters are well drawn, the plot is twisty, the Welsh valleys humour is well employed..
