The sage al-Tirmidhi, to whom we are publishing these two letters for the first time, was one of the early luminaries of Sufism and a prominent sheikh among them.
He founded the mystical school "al-Hakimiyya" named after him, and his books and letters remain fundamental works in Sufi literature and religious education. Nevertheless, little is known about his life, surrounded by doubt and ambiguity, and the exact time of his death remains unknown.
