Stephenie Meyer's writing makes everyone of us a compulsive reader. A captivating story which underlights the human nature.
Run away and follow our deepest instinct to reconciliate two worlds tearing each other apart …
We are Melanie, we are Wonderer, we are humans and non-humans …
And we fight for the one same thing : live in peace with those we love.
The most beautiful book of short stories that I ever read so far. This is how much I love it. Kanish Tharoor will speak about many subjects : the last speaker of a language suddenly approached by ethnologists eager to record her but disturbing her life by their visit, an unarmed city about to be attacked wondering what to do with the few days before death, a world where States do not exist anymore and their ghost leaders are playing in outer of space … Each one of these stories is told with graceful, sensitive writing that will ultimately touch you right in the heart of your soul.
Indisputable
masterpiece.
Two men burst in the house of Roxy and her mother. One catches her, but Roxy feels something in her fingers, like a force pushing to get out. There's a flash of light and then nothing.
Allie is another girl who felt the force in her fingers and learnt to use it. She killed her abuser with it.
They were a few, and now they are many. The young women teach the old how to use it. Worldwide, a revolution is starting. Now the men are afraid, afraid to die from their power. Women will have to choose how to use it, to control the power to kill so easily.
A very intriguing and compelling story !
You don't know it yet, but you'd like August Pullman as a friend.
Young boy of 10 years-old with a lot of self-mockery,compassion and kindness. Unfortunately, people aren't really nice to him. Because you see, August is born with a facial malformation. He's avoiding critics and hurting comments with humour, and lives a quite pleasant life at home.
But now, he's going to school for the first time. A place where children are more cruel than they think.
A beautiful novel about being different and indifferent to those you will bully you for it
Living in the post World War II Catholic Ireland, Baba has a brother and a beautiful mother who encourages her to use her beauty as a tool to get her way. Kate is more discreet, secretly longing for love but terrified by her alcoholic father at home. Competitive friends, the two girls will struggle to make their own way of life, away from their judmental neighbours, and up to the capital.
Edna O'Brien talked about female sexual freedom during a time where it was strictly forbidden by the Irish society. Her book was censured and burnt by priests. Her feminist legacy lives on today despite censureship.
A
magnificent trilogy
What began as a trick to get girls will turn out to be a lot more than this. Will is a real bachelor of 36 years-old, hating anything that comes close to romance, family and children. But the kid next door , Marcus, living with a strange and depressed mother will come to Will for advices, company, and in return will act as his kid for Will to get girls.
A strange friendship begins, funny all along with its ups and downs, with different roles for each of the characters : father, brother, friend. All at once and unnaturally comforting.
A brilliant comedy !
