Biographie de Louise Fatio
Louise Fatio was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1904. In 1925, she married future children's book author and illustrator Roger Duvoisin. Their collaboration on The Happy Lion began after Louise wrote a story inspired by a French newspaper article about a friendly, well-fed lion who had escaped from the circus. Nine other Happy Lion books followed. Louise Fatio died in 1993. Roger Duvoisin was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1904 and came to the United States with his wife, Louise Fatio, in 1925.
He wrote and illustrated 40 books-including those featuring Veronica, the conspicuous hippopotamus, and Petunia, the silly goose-and illustrated more than 100 written by other authors. He received the Caldecott Medal in 1947 for White Snow, Bright Snow and a Caldecott Honor in 1966 for Hide and Seek Fog, both written by Alvin Tresselt. He was also a distinguished magazine illustrator and an important New Yorker cover artist starting in 1935.
Roger Duvoisin died in 1980.
