Résumé

FIRECRACKERS explode in the night ! This is Chinese New Year - a holiday that millions of people celebrate, loudly ! The noise, bright colors, and festivities are all part of the spectacle that marks the Lunar New Year, when people all around the world gather with families and friends to chase away winter and bad luck and welcome the promise of spring and good fortune. Author Carolyn Otto explains the significance of these traditions and captures the festive mood with her lively prose.
Spectacular illustrations reflect the colorful and fun-filled festivities and give us a glimpse of the quiet reflective moments as well. A special section tells us how to make a lantern, bake our very own fortune cookies, and play a traditional holiday game. We even learn how to use the lunar calendar to find out more about ourselves.
