À propos des auteurs

Born in Santander, Spain, in 1960, Emilio Ruiz holds a degree in fine arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. After graduation, Ruiz looked to the audiovisual sector to get his start as a professional. His first vocation was photography, and he spent countless hours roaming the streets with his Nikon. Through this artform, the young photographer would discover the narrative process, which would later have such a strong impact on his life.
Ruiz likes to tell stories in a poetic way, and has used his talents in areas ranging from theater to dance. Between 1985 and 2000, Ruiz became specialized in audiovisual montage and video projection, and worked for a variety of public institutions and private companies. At the turn of the millennium, he even created two films based on the series "Djinn": "Jade, I Presume" (2000) and "Le Trésor à pied" (2004). In parallel with his other creative work, over the years Ruiz also became an accomplished graphic novel scriptwriter.
He completed "Corps à corps" in 1991 with Ana Mirallès, followed by the award-winning historical adventure "À la recherche de la licorne, " published in three volumes by Glénat in the 1990s before being re-released in a special complete edition by Dargaud in 2008 (published in English in 2018 by Europe Comics, "In Search of the Unicorn"). Ana Miralles, born in Madrid in 1959, started her comic book and illustration career in 1982, when she had her first story published in the Spanish magazine Rambla.
She later went on to be published in the magazines Madriz, Cairo, Marca Acme, Blue Press, Marie-Claire Spain, Vogue Spain and Je Bouquine. Her first album, "El brillo de una Mirada, " written by Emilio Ruiz, was published in black and white by Editions La General in 1990. It's the erotic story of a woman who describes a series of events during the filming of a TV advert in a hotel. This work was later put into color and republished in Spain by Editorial Casset, in France by Glénat (with the title "Corps à Corps"), and in Italy by Blue Press. In 1991, the first volume of the "Eva Medusa" trilogy, "Toi et Venin, " written by Antonio Segura, was released by Glénat.
The other two titles, "Toi, le désir" and "Toi, l'amour, " came out in 1993 and 1994. This series was also distributed in Spain, Germany, Wales, and the USA. The story takes place in 1920s Brazil, mixing facts with magic, mythology, and psychoanalysis, in a tale that initially centers on the contrast of two worlds: the ancestral and the civilized, with magic and desire as catalytic elements. In collaboration with writer Emilio Ruiz, she also completed a comic book adaptation of Juan Eslava Galan's novel, "A la recherche de la licorne" (Dargaud 2008; "In Search of the Unicorn, " Europe Comics 2018), a three-part work that received prizes in Spain, Portugal, and Italy.
It recounts a 1471 expedition through the African continent in search of the legendary unicorn, with the aim of bringing back the horn to Enrique IV de Castille in order to save his waning virility. A sensitive and highly productive author, her portfolio comprises a multitude of illustrated books, post cards, book and magazine covers, exhibitions, collective compilations, advertisements, and silkscreen prints. Miralles has also notably worked in collaboration with writer Jean Dufaux on the long-running "Djinn" series, published by Dargaud (Europe Comics in English).
