Résumé

Judy Abbot is brought up at an orphanage, the John Grier Home. Her life changes when one of the trustees offers to send Judy to college. Her wealthy benefactor wants nothing in return apart from a monthly letter. Judy's world at college is everything she dreamed of, including the beginning of a romance with the dashing Jervis Pendleton. Yet, through it all, Judy writes regular letters to her mysterious 'Daddy- Long-Legs' waiting for him to make an appearance.

Biographie de Jean Webster

Alice Jane Chandler Webster (1876-1916) better known by her pen name Jean Webster was an American writer best known for her novels. She grew up in New York and was introduced to the literary world at a fairly early age as her father was business manager to Mark Twain. Webster attended Vassar College, which provided inspiration for several of her novels. Active in the politics of her day, Webster worked for voting rights for women and children's welfare, themes that also appear in her books.
She is best known for Daddy- Long-Legs (1912) and Dear Enemy (1915). Her other novels include When Patty Went to College (1903), Wheat Princess (1905), Much Ado About Peter (1909) and Just Patty (1911).
