Résumé

This book is clearly titled Cosmopolitan Sociology. It might sound descriptive nevertheless cosmopolitanism is not a mere "subject" and topic of sociological research. It was a great and misleading scientific error to consider cosmopolitanism as a sociological subject. The authors provide a stimulating reading and an important step towards a cosmopolitan sociology as a paradigm, methodology and working style although it still implies to fight against "zombie concepts" (as Beck defined them) as "culture" and "identity" replaced by memetics and evolutionary contingency, for example.
The challenge is huge and the two coauthors are solid and strong enough to drive the road ahead (from the "Preface" by Andrea Pitasi).
