What rote does urbanisation play in economic development ? Explaining and illustrating models, patterns and trends in urban development, as well as looking at topical issues such as sustainability, leisure, globalisation and competition between cities, this book adds depth to the study of urbanisation on any AS/A Level course. The first part of the book looks at cities in the MEDCs and each chapter contains a major case study from a British city as well as referring to a range of exemples from around the world. The second part looks at issues from a range of LEDC cities, comparing and contrasting these with MEDC cities, and has a particular focus on the Indien city of Bangalore.
