Résumé

Heads Up is a practical two-level student-based speaking course, devised to meet the overriding need of in-work students at pre-intermediate level to become operational in spoken English as quickly and efficiently as possible. Heads Up addresses both the lack of time these one-to-one or group learners often have and the requirement for streamlined materials that target their needs in their own area of work.
The materials in Heads Up help students to successfully develop their speaking skills by providing careful preparation leading up to personalised tasks, supported by vocabulary input and regular pronunciation practice. Each level of Heade Up is divided into 40 two-page units, which get right to the heart of students' needs. Most units feature a Listening section, with carefully selected audio input and exploitation.
This is followed by a preparatory section - Get ready - which prepares users for the personalised Task at the end of the unit. This enables students to apply the language from the Key language section to their own situation. Each units topic development is a springboard to students speaking about their own work contexts, with stimulating and motivating activities. The units are also self-contained, allowing students the flexibility of choosing the topics that interest them most and best fulfil their needs.
