Résumé

Completely revised and expanded, this new edition now includes a section on systems biology of aging and comes in a large format with a vastly improved layout, professional artwork throughout, and student-friendly reading lists. The experienced author team has worked closely to ensure a homogenous style and comprehensive coverage. The text retains its easily accessible style and includes numerous work examples and study questions in each chapter.
Now that systems biology is becoming an integral part of the life science curriculum, this textbook is geared towards biologists, engineers and computer scientists.

À propos des auteurs

Edda KLIPP (born 1965) studied biophysics at Humboldt University, Berlin and obtained a PhD in theoretical biophysics at the HU Berlin and an honorary doctor at Gothenburg University. She is professor for theoretical biophysics at HU Berlin and received an honorary Caroline von Humboldt professorship. A founding member of the International Sociey for Systems Biology, her research interests include mathematical madeling of cellular systems, application of physical principles in biology, systems biology, and development of modeling tools.
Wolfram LIEBERMEISTER (born 1972) studied physics in Tübingen and Hamburg, Germany, holds a PhD in theoretical biophysics from the Humboldt University of Berlin, and works as a system biology researcher at the Charité-University-Hospital in Berlin. In his works on complex biochemical networks, he highlights functional aspects such as variability, information, metabolic control, and the economy of cellular resources.
Christoph WIERLING (born 1973) studied Biology at the University of Münster, Germany, and obtained a PhD in Biochemistry at the Free University, Berlin. Currently, he heads the Bioinformatics and Modeling unit at Alacris Theranostics, a Berlin-based company applying Next Generation Sequencing and systems biology approaches for translational research and personalized medicine. His research is focused on modeling and simulating biological systems and the development of systems biology software.
Axel KOWALD (born 1963) holds a PhD in mathematical biology from the National Institute for Medical research, London. His current research interests focus on the mathematical modeling of processes involved in the biology of aging and systems biology.
