The taxonomical study of theColeoptera Platynotinaof Madagascar is presented and illustrated. The MadagascanPlatynotinainclude three main groups: (I) the generaZidalusMulsant et Rey (three species) andAnchophthalmopsKoch(one species) occurring in both Madagascar and the African continent; (II) the endemic genusLechiusIwan (three species), and (III) the Madagascan"melanocratoid"generic group (eight genera, 30 species).
The Madagascan Platynotina comprise 37 species in 11 genera. The occurrence in Madagascar of one species, Anchophthalmops menouxi(Mulsant et Rey, 1853) needs confirmation. Bilingual French-English identification keys to genera and species are presented.
